Robot Ninja (1989) Plot Summary

An artist named Leonard Miller (played by Michael Todd) is a frustrated young creative. As a comic book artist, his publisher and agent have made riches off his work. He witness a crime and decides to become his own character. He has an inventor friend build him a robot suit (actually just spandex) and starts patrolling the streets of Ridgeway, looking for people to attack. He starts taking drugs to help him perform at his physical peak. His vigilante spree builds up into a climax – his inventor friend, Dr, Goodknight (played by Bogdan Pecic), is trying to stop him from his mission, and he ultimately comes up against a crime lord in a final confrontation.

Knightriders is a 1981 George Romero action film starring Ed Harris, Tom Savini, Stephen King and Patricia Tallman.

Knightriders (1981) Plot Summary

The film revolves around a group of performers who go to renaissance faires and joust on motorcycles. King William (also known as King Billy, played by Ed Harris) leads the group in a romantic King Arthur manner, but money issues are causing problems between the group. A promoter arrives and attempts to start managing the group.

King William refuses to bribe a corrupt cop, who ends up beating up a member of the group and putting King Billy in jail. After getting out of jail he realizes his group members want to join the promotor, Bontempi, instead of staying under him. He feels even worse when he realizes his queen, Linet (played by Amy Ingersoll) doesn’t love him as he thought.

A breakaway group wins the next day’s motorcycle joust, and a riot breaks out. One of the members, Morgan (played by Tom Savini) leads some of them to follow the promoter, Bontempi. Others in the group leave, getting girlfriends or for other reasons.

A period of dejection sets in, and the entire group is having problems and failed relationships. Morgan’s group ends up fighting and they realize they need a single leader. After a brief attempt at following Bontempi, they decide to go for the crown themselves and so go to a new fair to challenge King Billy for the crown. Morgan knocks the competitor off his motorcycle, and wins the crown, award by Billy himself.

Billy leaves the group, and goes back to find the corrupt cop. He beats him up, and leaves on his motorcycle. He is weak from the fight and collides with a track, dying. The group comes together at his funeral in a last stand of solidarity.

Plot Summary

A police detective, Robert Malone (played by Fred Williamson) is a rogue cop who shoots several kidnappers during a hostage situation. He then finds himself in a situation where a woman photographer, Elys Trumbo (played by Eva Grimaldi) has been witness to a murder scene and is now pursued by a group of bikers in order to silence her. Malone investigates and finds the group, led by a bandit leader played by Bruno Bilotta. He then proceeds to wreak havoc with them.

The film 2020 Texas Gladiators, known in Italy as Texas 2000, is a 1982 post-apocalyptic film shot in Italy. It was directed by Joe D’Amato and written by George Eastman. The movie stars Sabrina Siani, Al Cliver, Harrison Muller and Daniel Stephen.

2020 Texas Gladiators (1982) Plot Summary

After wars and disasters, the world is destroyed, and in typical post-apocalyptic fashion, marauders roam the wasteland. Many refugees gather in churches to shelter from the raiders. A group of volunteer fighters called the Rangers help fight back.

When raiders attack a church, Maida (played by Sabrina Siani) is saved by the Rangers. As he sees his fellow Rangers degenerating themselves, one of them named Nexus (played by Al Cliver) decides to go his own way.

Years later, he and Maida have a daughter and are living peacefully in a settlement. However, one of the Rangers-gone-bad, Catch Dog, attacks the village. Nexus is killed and the women are enslaved.

Other Rangers, still fighting for good, free Maida from her slavery and contact a tribe of Indians to help them attack the village and take it back.

The film opens with two university students, Butch (played by Renato Miracco) and Ringo (played by Rodolfo Bigotti) who are taking a vacation in the Amazon rainforest. They rent a boat, intending to sail it down the Amazon river and enjoy the views. However, they soon become lost and spend the rest of the movie searching for civilization.

They are attacked by local villagers after they upset a gangster, and then while sailing down the river are forced to abandon their raft when they reach large waterfalls. They meet a strange women Luana (played by Sabrina Siani), the survivor of a helicopter crash sometime in the past.

Thunder Run is a 1986 action movie directed by Gary Hudson and released by the Cannon Group and stars Forrest Tucker, John Ireland and Jill Whitlow. The film saw heavy rotation on television throughout the 80s and 90s, and developed a cult following.

Thunder Run (1986) Plot

An old trucker named Charlie Morrison (played by Forrest Tucker) is a retired Korean War vet. He spends his nights at the local dive bars and mines cobalt out in the desert with his grandson, Chris (played by John Shepherd).

An old friend named George (played by John Ireland) convinces him to come out of retirement by bidding $250,000 to drive government plutonium from Nevada to Arizona.

He outfits his rig with various defenses, and sets out with his grandson riding shotgun. On the way terrorists ambush him, driving motorcycles, dune buggies with rocket launchers, soldiers with machine guns, and at one point a train.

The film draws inspiration from Batman, in that the superhero Black Scorpion is a vigilante with no actual superpowers.

Darcy Walker (played by Joan Severance) is a police detective with an alter ego called Black Scorpion, who fights crime at night. In addition to impressive martial arts skills, she is also equipped with a range of technological inventions and a special car.

Her detective partner, Michael Russo (played by Bruce Abbott) is unaware of her secret identity. The only person who knows who she is at night is a car thief-turned-tech nerd named Argyle (played by Garrett Morris).

The 1988 film Red Scorpion is an action film starring Dolph Lundgren. The movie has since become a cult classic and is shown regularly on television. Typical of many low-budget action flicks during the 80s, the strong Reaganesque political overtones don’t stop this film from being an enjoyable watch.

Red Scorpion (1988) Plot Summary

A Soviet special ops soldier named Rachenko (played by Dolph Lundgren) is deployed to an African country which is having problems with an anti-communist rebel uprising. However, when he is in the middle of an assassination operation, he is arrested by the local police and then gets to a rebel camp. He escapes, but is tortured by his commanding officers for failing to complete his mission.

Out in the desert, he meets natives who take him in and teach him of their culture. He is inducted into their tribe, burning a scorpion into his skin, and then decides to revolt against the Soviets. He shoots down the general’s Mil-24 Hind helicopter with a rocket launcher he steals from the Soviet armory, and the rebels join in an attack that routs the Soviets.

The 1987 film Miami Connection is a kung-fu action film. It has become a cult classic, famous for being blissfully un-self-aware and renowned for the in-movie band, Dragon Sound.

The movie was produced and directed by Y.K. Kim, a Korean martial arts personality, and he also starred in the main role.

Y.K. Kim mortgaged his taekwondo school, used up all of his savings, and got loans from friends in order to finance the movie. He finally sold it to a distribution company for $100,000.

Miami Connection (1987) Movie Plot

Ninjas, riding motorcycles and swathed in black, interrupt a coke deal somewhere in Miami. The ninjas steal the drugs and go to a club. Seeing his sister onstage with the bassist of the performing band, he becomes angry. The band, Dragon Sound, is made up of five orphaned men who room together, go to college, play music, and train taekwondo.

When another club owner starts a fight because Dragon Sound was hired away from his club, a street fight ensues and Dragon Sound beats them. The gang of ninjas attack the band, but are beaten once again. Accidentally killing one of the leaders of the gang, the band is now targeted by the ninjas.

The keyboardist reveals that he has been looking for his father. He learns that his father has been located, so they pitch in to purchase a suit, and on the way to the airport they are ambushed by the ninjas. They battle in the park, and manage to kill all of the ninjas. The keyboardist, heavily injured, is visited in the hospital by his father.

The 1987 film Surf Nazis Must Die is a classic B-movie from director Peter George and starring Gail Neely, Joel Hile, Robert Harden, Tom Shell and Barry Brenner. The movie is a campy horror film from Troma Entertainment about a woman whose son is murdered by Nazi punk surfers.

The film was considered a failure by most critics, even considering it’s tongue-in-cheek purpose, but it has since become a cult classic.

Surf Nazis Must Die Plot

An earthquake strikes California, and the beaches are in ruins and run over by gangs of thugs. A neo-nazi gang, led by a kid named Adolf (played by Barry Brenner) calls himself the “führer of the new beach” and becomes a warlord in control of the beaches, feared by all other gangs. Some of his gang members include Eva (played by Dawn Wildsmith) and Mengele (played by Michael Sonye).

A black oil well worker, Leroy (played by Robert Harden) is killed by the surf Nazis.

His mother, Mama Washington (played by Gail Neely) learns of her son’s death and goes into a fury. She is living in a retirement home, but she leaves, gets a handgun, a motorcycle, and grenades, and heads to the beach to attack the gang of neo-Nazis.
