The 1982 film Lagazalian: Runes of Mammon is a sword-and-sorcery film directed by Geraldo Sciattico and written by Carl Melvin, starring a bevy of C-listers known for bit parts in various sword-and-sorcery fantasy movies throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

Starring Anna Andarias and Craig Gilforth (pseudonym, no known actor with this name), the movie also starred Olga Schoberová, Anna Kanakis, Milena Natarova, and Kevin Schiff. Parts of the movie were filmed on location in Bulgaria, but the majority of the movie was reportedly shot in Italy using leftover TV pilot sets.

The movie was first released straight to video in 1982, but was picked up for a small theatrical run in 1983. Legal issues relating to a financing disagreement between the producers led to the film being pulled from distribution in the 1990s and all remaining prints destroyed. Except for incomplete VHS bootlegs, the movie is considered lost by many.

In a small village in a Nordic-inspired countryside, an old and crafty cleric named Lagazalian is wandering with his “sidekick”, a tough guy named Darro. They perform tricks and minor healings for villages, barely scrounging out an existence. They happen across a couple of women (one of which is an older, silent woman and the other of which is her young nurse) and save them from being robbed by bandits. They begin traveling together. Eventually, they hear news that an omen has been seen in the sky, a great light that is growing brighter every night. They venture on a journey to prevent a cataclysmic apocalypse.

She (1984) is a sword-and-sorcery/fantasy/post-apocalyptic film directed by Israeli born filmmaker Avi Nesher starring Sandahl Bergman, David Goss, Harrison Muller, Elena Wiedermann and Mario Pedone.

Plot Summary

With Sandahl Bergman (in the titular role, She) as a lone wolf heroine fighting in a futuristic post-apocalyptic world while at the same time trying to maintain her wholesome, old-fashioned values.

Such sentiments are applicable to this pugilistic, bewitching heroine.

Sandahl Bergman balances her classically feminine beauty while unleashing her unbridled Mad Max fury as she fights werewolves, psychics, mad scientists and a rolling candy crush of novel and diabolical characters all on the road to her total domination over throngs of evildoers.

On this mythical heroes’ journey She is accompanied by Harrison Muller (as Dick), David Goss (as Tom), Elena Wiedermann (as Hari) and Mario Pedone (as Rudolph).

In the Name of the King 2: Two Worlds (2011) Plot

A former Special Forces combat expert, Granger (played by Dolph Lundgren) lives in Vancouver. He is suddenly sent on a quest to make an ancient prophecy come true, and after killing a group of assassins, is sucked into a time portal.

He finds himself in an ancient forest in the land of Ehb.

Granger meets a small group of people that he becomes friends with, including a woman doctor named Manhattan (played by Natassia Malthe). They must kill an evil witch named Holy Mother, who leads a band of cultic evil warriors named the Dark Ones. He kills the evil king Raven (played by Lochlyn Munro) which frees the land from his grasp, kills the Holy Mother (played by Christina Jastrzembska) and finally gets back to Vancouver in the present day.

The 1983 film The Beast and the Magic Sword (also known as La Bestia y la Espada Magica) is a sword-and-sorcery film uniquely co-produced by Spain and Japan. The movie was tenth in the werewolf series written and directed by Paul Naschy, under the pseudonym of Jacinto Molina. The movie stars Paul Naschy, Julia Saly, Junko Asahina, and Shigeru Amachi.

The movie was never dubbed in English, distributed in theaters outside of Spain, or available on home media like VHS or DVD.

The Beast and the Magic Sword (1983) Plot

Following the events in the previous films, in the sixteen century a werewolf named Waldemar Daninsky (played by Paul Naschy) travels from Europe to Japan. He searches the temples of Japan, hoping to find someone who can rid him of his lycanthropy. He discovers that a sorcerer, Kian (played by Shigeru Amachi) and a magical sword can remove his affliction.

The 1987 movie Warrior Queen is a sword-and-sorcery style film starring Sybil Danning, Donald Pleasence, and Rick Hill. Filmed as part of the sword-and-sandals craze, the film was a critical failure and was produced to cover huge losses sustained by a previous film flop by the studio. However, the film has become a cult classic.

In Pompeii, slavery is common and the trade is flourishing. However, a queen who is well-connected among the rich populace secretly helps slaves escape the city. As she is found out, the elite threaten her life and she escapes the city as Vesuvius erupts, with the Roman guard pursuing her.

In a plot almost identical to Conan The Barbarian, a small village is attacked by Ungat marauders, whose leader is the evil Magen. However, Amazon warriors save two of the infants in the village from death, and these two boys are brought up to be warriors themselves. Gunan is one of these (played by Pietro Torrisi). He sets out to take revenge for the death of all his village, and he ends up personally attacking the entire Ungat kingdom himself, ultimately facing Magen.

The 1982 film Sorceress is a fantasy film in the sword-and-sorcery genre that was one of the earliest B-movies inspired by the success of Conan the Barbarian. The movie was produced by Roger Corman, written by Jim Wynorski, and was filmed in Mexico. But despite it’s humble origin story the movie was what the Germans would call a commercial gelingen…or success to English speakers just tuning in…and would subsequently be followed by many other Roger Corman sword-and- sorcery films throughout the 1980s. The public’s appetite for these films was insatiable. They were drinking ’em down like Coka Cola.

Sorceress (1982) Plot Summary

The evil sorcerer Traigon (played by Roberto Ballesteros) learns he must sacrifice his firstborn to receive favor from a god. His wife, however, gives birth to twin girls and then leaves for safety with them. She has a warrior named Krona (played by Martin LaSalle) promise to raise them as warriors themselves.

After two decades, Traigon is still trying to kill his daughters (Mira and Mara, played by Leigh Harris and Lynette Harris). The two sisters find a barbarian (played by Bob Nelson) and a Viking (played by Bruno Rey) to help them in the battle against Traigon.

Sword of the Valiant (1984) Plot Summary

The movie begins at a feast, with the king concerned about how fat and lazy everyone has become. He doubts that any knight present is actually brave. Suddenly a knight in green armor (played by Sean Connery) comes in with an axe and challenges everyone to a game.

Gawain (played by Miles O’Keeffe) is the only one to accept the challenge, and the knight says that Gawain has one chance to behead him, but then afterwards the green knight gets to behead Gawain. Gawain beheads him, but the knight picks up his head and prepares to chop off Gawain’s head, before granting him passage.

He then sends Gawain off on a journey to accomplish four tasks, during which he meets Linet (played by Cyrielle Clair) and the Lady of Lyonesse (played by Lila Kedrova).
