Hot Moves (1984) is a 1980’s coming of age teen comedy and an early forerunner for cheeky comedies like American Pie.

Hot Moves was directed by Jim Sotos and stars Jill Schoelen, Monique Gabrielle and Deborah Richter.

Hot Moves (1984) Plot

The crux of our story centers around four crazed teenage boys: Barry (played Michael Zorek), Michael (Adam Silbar), Joey (Jeff Fishman) and Scotty (Johnny Timko). Mindless young lads brimming with hormones and driven by the excitement of unrealistic fever dreams.

One hot summer they set out on a do-or-die mission, a quest to lose their virginity before the sun sets on their youth and they’re inevitably plagued by the nagging existential questions surrounding their own fading mortality.

But I digress from such heavy undercurrents…

Back to the mindless fun.

The film is set to the backdrop of the sun-drenched fun and frivolity of summertime on Venice Beach. This film has everything good and mindless that’s endemic to the 1980s.

Gratuitous shots of bikini clad vixens.
Rollerblading montages.
Husky guys at the beach too afraid to take off their shirts.
Break dancing.
Popping and locking.
One pointless, impromptu dance competition after another.
Each one leaving you with the gnawing feeling you just got served.

As for the heroins of our tale this cast of young ladies serve as objects for the single-minded obsession of these lusty rapscallions.

First, there’s Julie Ann (played by Jill Schoelen). She’s the girl next door before the neighborhood got gentrified. Next there’s Heidi (played by Debi Richter). You’d better leave a trail of breadcrumbs when you chase after this summertime siren. And last but not least Babs (played by B-movie royalty Monique Gabrielle).

Hot Moves is an exhilarating vignette into a carefree time gone by.

Galactic Gigolo (1987) Plot

The alien Eoj (played by Carmine Capobianco) wins a vacation prize from a game show, which is a trip to Earth in which the alien can date as many Earthling women as possible. Eoj heads to Earth to embark on his adventure, followed by Hildy (played by Debi Thibeault) who is an alien reporter writing a book about Eoj.

The film, although tongue-in-cheek and possessing a unique storyline, is widely considered to fall flat and is hardly watchable.

The 1988 film Assault of the Killer Bimbos is a comedy low-budget film starring Elizabeth Kaitan, Christina Whitaker, Debi Thibeault, Tammara Souza, Nick Cassavetes, and Griffin O’Neal. The movie was directed by Anita Rosenberg. It opened to less than stellar ratings but has since become a cult classic.

Assault of the Killer Bimbos (1988) Plot

Two dancers, Lulu (played by Elizabeth Kaitan) and Peaches (played by Christina Whitaker) are surprised by the sudden murder of their boss. Even though the real killer is a gangster named Vinnie, they are framed for the killing and are on the run for their lives. They find a waitress named Darlene (played by Tammara Souza) who joins them on a long road chase away from the pursuing police. They aim for the Mexican border, but once they get into Mexico they find that Vinnie has pursued them and cornered them in a motel. The face him down in a final showdown.

Tammy and the T-Rex (1994)

The 1994 comedy sci-fi film Tammy and the T-Rex is a low-budget film written & directed by Stewart Raffill. The movie stars Denise Richards and an early appearance by Paul Walker.

The film was shot in locations that were all just a few minutes from the director’s house, and the movie was conceptualized by a South American theater owner who had an animatronic dinosaur available for two weeks which he wanted to get some use out of.

Tammy and the T-Rex (1994) Plot

A cheerleader named Tammy (played by Denise Richards) hangs out with her football player boyfriend Michael (played by Paul Walker) along with her gay friend Byron (played by Theo Forsett). However, an old ex named Billy (played by George Pilgrim) shows up with his group of thugs and starts bullying Michael. They start to fight, but when the police show up they arrest the bully and the trio is left in peace.

Elsewhere, a large dinosaur (a T-Rex) is looming inside a huge warehouse being worked on by two scientists, Dr. Wachenstein (played by Terry Kiser) and his assistant Helga (played by Ellen Dubin). The dinosaur turns out to be a robotic creation, and Dr. Wachenstein’s intention is to surgically implant a human brain into the dinosaur to give it life.

That night, Michael visits Tammy after hours. However, Billy and his group is out of jail and angry, looking for revenge. They beat up Michael and take him to a zoo, throwing him into a section with wild cats. Lions attack Michael and he passes out.

The evil doctor, Wachenstein, says that Michael is dead, but he secretly removes his living brain and surgically inserts it into the dinosaur’s robotic skull. Michael wakes up, now in the body of the robotic T-Rex, and escapes from the warehouse. He finds his bullies and terrorizes them, and finds Tammy who finally comes to the realization that the dinosaur is actually her boyfriend. She wants to find a better body for his brain to reside, however they must escape Dr. Wachenstein who is chasing them. Michael, as the T-Rex, kills Wachenstein but is then destroyed himself by police. Tammy gets Michael’s brain from the T-Rex’s wreckage and takes it home, hooking up the brain to her personal computer in her room. Michael has the ability to see out of the computer through a video camera, and seeing Tammy in her room initiates an electrical overload to the brain circuits.

The film Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity is a 1987 movie that is a semi-parody comedy of the sci-fi and exploitation genres. The movie stars Brinke Stevens, Elizabeth Kaitan, and Cindy Beal.

Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity (1987) Plot

Daria (played by Elizabeth Kaitan) and Tisa (played by Cindy Beal) are two prisoners who escape from their imprisonment in some sort of space jail, and steal a shuttle to fly away.

When the shuttle breaks down, they crash land on a world and stay in a fortress owned by a man named Zed (played by Don Scribner). The only inhabitant of the world, he has two robots as sidekicks.

That evening, the girls find two other people who say that they also crash landed, Rik (played by Carl Horner) and his sister Shala (played by Brinke Stevens). They begin to suspect something is amiss about Zed.

They then find a trophy room full of the preserved heads of previous crash-landed victims.

The next day, they are pursued through the jungle by Zed, who is hunting the victims for sport. Both Rik and Shala are killed, but Daria and Tisa find an ancient temple called the Phantom Zone. Battling hordes of zombies, they find laser guns and manage to escape in a space shuttle before Zed self-destructs his fortress, and they fly off to explore the galaxy.

Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama (1988) Plot

A trio of frat boys follow around a sorority called Tri-Delta, and the girls catch them during an event in their sorority house. The frat boys are sent on a mission by the sorority to steal a trophy, but they are watched on security cameras in the mall where they go to steal it inside a bowling alley.

They find a female burglar who helps them break open the trophy room, and they accidentally free an imp from a trophy called Uncle Impie (played by Michael Sonye) which grants three wishes. One frat boy gets his wish of stacks of gold, another girl becomes the prom queen, and another boy gets the girl he wanted. However after this happens, the imp possesses them and they are turned into demons.

Suddenly the remaining frat boys and sorority sisters are trying to escape from the demons, battling their way through the mall, enlisting the help of janitors along the way who tell them that the imp is a long-imprisoned demon. In the end the burglar and one frat boy, Calvin, escape on her motorcycle.

The 1989 film Dr. Alien is a science fiction and comedy film also known as I Was a Teenage Sex Maniac and I Was a Teenage Sex Mutant. The movie was directed by David DeCoteau and starred Judy Landers, Michelle Bauer, Elizabeth Kaitan, Billy Jacoby, Linnea Quigley, and Olivia Barash.

Dr. Alien (1989) Plot Summary

Wesley (played by Billy Jacoby) is a high school nerd, often bullied. He has a crush on Leanne (played by Olivia Barash) but is too self-conscious to date her.

A substitute teacher named Miss Xenobia teaches biology (played by Judy Landers), but he is in love with Leanne and isn’t impressed. Miss Xenobia selects him for an experiment after school. An assistant named Drax injects him with a vitamin supplement, making a stalk appear on Wesley’s head when he is around girls.

He becomes more confident, but he cannot remember what happens for brief periods. He becomes the frontman of a metal band, called the Sex Mutants, and finally asks out Leanne on a date.

His band plays a show, with an opening by a girl band named the Poon Tangs (one played by Linnea Quigley). Leanne thinks that Wesley is flirting with the girls backstage and runs off. Wesley attempts to follow, but finds Miss Xenobia in a silver spacesuit, who tells him she and her assistant are from Alterion and are attempting to save their planet, where nobody can produce children. She attempts to seduce him once more and peels off her fake head.

Wesley goes back to the high school lab, where Xenobia has stored serum. He burns it down, returns to the music show with one vial of serum, and finds Xenobia with a ray gun. He tries to stop her firing, and destroys the last vial of serum. The assistant, Drax, shows up and admits he has taken some of the serum and has grown a stalk.

They fly back to Alterion and Wesley is left with his girlfriend, Leanne.

The 1992 movie Frogtown II, also known as Return To Frogtown, is a low-budget comedy and post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie directed by Donald Jackson. The sequel to Hell Comes To Frogtown, the movie tells the story of a destroyed future earth where mutated frogmen fight the remaining humans. The movie was followed by a further sequel in 1996 named Max Hell Frog Warrior.

Plot Summary

Sam Hell (played by Robert Z’Dar) is a man who sneaks into Frog Town to find and save a downed rocket pilot, a Texas Rocket Ranger named John Jones (played by Lou Ferrigno). The leader of Frogtown ends up capturing a human professor named Dr. Spangle (played by Denice Duff), and makes him develop a special serum that mutates humans into frogs. They capture humans, as well, in order to test the serum. Sam Hell rescues these humans as well.

The 1985 science fiction and comedy film Star Worms II: Attack of the Pleasure Pods is a Troma cult classic B-movie starring Taylor Gilbert, David O’Hara, Orly Oh and Jeff Munson. There was no Star Worms I. The film was also known as Star Prison and was directed by Lin Sten.

Plot Summary

A man named Jessup (played by David O’Hara) is hiding his true identity, while captured on a barren planet named Star Prison. Spending his days mining in perilous rivers for Fire Gems, which are a form of psychedelic drug minerals, he gathers together some allies and fights his way through other prisoners and ultimately battles Star Worms, a Dune-style monster.

The Lords of the Evil Empire use this mineral for their own pleasure, in a manner greatly reminiscent of the spices in the Dune franchise.

The 1994 film Class of Nuke ‘Em High Part 3: The Good, the Bad and the Subhumanoid is a comedy and science fiction film from Troma. The third film in the series, prefaced by Class of Nuke ‘Em High and Class of Nuke ‘Em High 2, The film has since become a cult classic.

Class of Nuke ‘Em High Part 3 Plot

The film begins right where the second film left off. A mutant squirrel named Tromie, a self-referential name from Troma Entertainment, is killed.

Everyday life resumes, and the mayor of Tromaville (played by Brick Bronsky) has twin sons with his wife Victoria (played by Leesa Rowland). One of them, however, is suddenly kidnapped while still at the hospital. The kidnappers raise the son to become a violent criminal, but the other son is properly raised by the mayor.

A few years into the future, the two twins are now adults (also played by Brick Bronsky). An evil scientist, Dr Slag (played by John Tallman) frames the good twin in order to cause unrest in the town. He plans to destroy the town with toxic sludge. For the rest of the film, the good twin attempts to clear his name by unmasking the conspiracy against him.

This film features a new love interest of the sons, Trish (played by Lisa Star). It also stars Elizabeth Young as Elaina, and Valerie McConnell as Lisa.
